Garcetti/Wakeland Residence in Dwell Magazine

Bonura Building was the general contractor on the remodel of the Garcetti/Wakeland Residence, featured in the July/August 2008 issue of Dwell Magazine. The remodel was designed by Scrafano Architects. The house was originally designed by architect Daniel Dworsky in the 1950s. Eric Garcetti is the President of the Los Angeles City Council. Committed to living green, he and his partner, Amy Wakeland, have transformed a mid-century house into a sustainable home.

Marco’s Cafe

Designed by C.J. Bonura and Tm Gratkowski, Bonura Building performed full design/build services on the nearly completed Marco’s Café, an existing 600 sq.ft. space off of Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.

In addition, Bonura Building has completed the design of the adjacent restaurant, with construction scheduled for completion this summer.

Ivarine Residence

Bonura Building was contracted to finalize the architectural detailing and revisions, as well as construction on the Ivarine Residence, initially designed by Touraine + Richman. Project scope included a complete interior remodel and addition, at a cost of $830,000, including architectural fees. The house was formerly the LA residence of German film director Wim Wenders.

St. Ives Residence

Construction is underway on the St. Ives Residence, a 3,650 sq. ft., ground-up custom home in the Hollywood Hills. The project is scheduled for completion by fall 2008. Bonura Building Associate Designer Tony Lee has been working diligently to refine the design and detailing on this project. Senior Project Manager Jeff Vasquez is the construction supervisor, bringing nearly 30 years of construction experience to this high profile home.

Construction is coming allong nicely up on Mt. Washington at the Scoville Residence. Joshua Frank has his hands full supervising all of the sub-contractors with finish work well underway. The house, designed by Ivan Kady is going to be spectacular! More images will be posted soon as work progress's so check back soon.

Tanager Way in Residential Design Build Magazine

The current issue of Residential Design Build Magazine has a cover story about the Tanager Way project titled

"Design Justice is Served".

Lead architect Joshua Frank was interviewed for the article as was Supervisor Jeff Vasquez, Interior Designer Mark Schomisch and CJ Bonura, principal of Bonura Building.

Ohara Residence in Vogue Magazine

The Ohara Residence designed by Richard Neutra and restored by Bonura Building is in the current issue of Vogue Magazine, on newstands now. Current owner David Netto and his wife Elizabeth are featured in the story. Mr. Netto is an interior designer, in the article he talks about the challenges of furnishing a Modern icon and of being a Los Angeles transplant.

Marco's Cafe

Construction is under way at the new location of Marco's Cafe in West Hollywood. When this store is completed the cafe will move in, then construction will begin on the remodel of the current Marco's Cafe transforming it into the new location of Marco's Trattoria.

Jose Anguiano is the superintendant on the job and came to Bonura Building two years ago from Marmol/Radziner. Jose was the superintendant on the Intelligentsia coffee house prior to Marco's, with his dry sense of humor and quick wit, Jose has brought comic relief to Bonura Building.

Marco's Cafe and Marco's Trattoria are both design/build projects by Bonura Building, designed by CJ Bonura and Tm Gratkowski. More photos will be posted when the project is completed.

James Perse Beverly Hills

The images show the completed courtyard at the new James Perse store in Beverly Hills. The courtyard provides a peacefull area for shoppers to relax.

The first California location of Intelligentsia Coffee located in Silver Lake, designed by Barbara Bestor Architecture and built by Bonura Building has one an AIA Award for Best Cafe.

Sea View Lane & Joshua Frank

The Sea View Lane project is located in the Mt. Washington area of Los Angeles. Designed by Architect Ivan Kadey, the home will have spectacular views of the Downtown Los Angeles skyline.

Architect Joshua Frank is the supervisor on the project. A graduate of Sci-Arc, Josh was the lead architect on the Tanager Way project, Josh's aesthetic values and exemplary work ethic have made him an integral member of the team.

Wexler Residence

The two images show the phases of the Wexler job. On the left is the new construction and the right is the existing house. Demo has begun and work will begin to blend the existing residence into the new addition. Taking a Spanish style home, removing elements to streamline the facade to match.

The new addition will double as the home of Glen Wexler Studios as well as an expansion of living area for the family.

Bonura Building Employee Spotlight

The first image shows CJ Bonura, Prinicipal of Bonura Building with Josh Zuboff inspecting conditions at the Wexler jobsite. Josh came to Bonura Building from Marmol/Radziner and has been an integral part of our supervision team, his expertise and calm demeanor have proven invaluable with the intricacies of the Wexler job.

The second image is Sergio Beltran, Sergio has been with Bonura Building for several years and has become a valued employee, showing drive and initiative in learning about the construction industry.

Tanager Way was designed and built with a custom whole house monitoring system giving the homeowner the ability to control all house systems from any terminal in the home.

Designed by Bestor Architecture and built by Bonura Building, Intelligentsia Coffee has opened thier first California location in Silver Lake at Sunset Junction.

Interior Design Issue #10 has a feature story on Kanye West and his Los Angeles Residence. Bonura Building is the architect of record as well as the contractor on the project, working in conjunction with Don Stewart of Desiderata Design and the homeowner to achieve a sleek modern remodel of this Hollywood home.
